Inspired by M*A*S*H I played a bit of Theater of War 3 : Korea ;)

Haven't bought Panzer Tactics HD... Didn't convince me, yet...
Maybe if it's on sale anywhere...

We have still 34°C, and it's 8 pm already...
Don't care why, but I don't like it... I usually can't stand temperatures over 25°C...

Hmmm, I'm not that much into statistics, but if you say so: thanks a lot on behalf of the whole country ;)

The problem is, portugal just played bad that day... wouldn't know how they'd fare next time...
Same goes for Ghana... on a good day, your guys would have had a very hard time playing against them.

Some teams aren't just on a world cup level yet (spain is the best example on that one)...

what do you think of Die Mannschaft's defense overall in this match?

are the Boeteng brothers still fighting?

It always depends on the quality of offense and portugal wasn't that good that night. (if a team depends on one player alone, it's easier to block them)
Didn't help either, that portugal "lost" a defender...

I don't get why anybody see's a good player in Jerome Boateng. He is a weak point in DFB defense, but Löw wouldn't let him down. (for what reason ever...)
It only worked to block Cristiano Ronaldo because he was doubled or tripled everytime.
If the defense had had relied on Boateng alone, it wouldn't have been a zero defeat for portugal...

dude, how could you guys let someone like coah K (pardon my language, i think it's called football manager over there) walked away back in 2006, when he took over "Die Mannschaft" when no one wanted that job (according to my knowledge), then masterfully transformed the whole team into a different animal. if it wasn't for his fine German football engineering, we would probably make a quick exit without a whimper in this year's tournament. back then i heard he voluntarily stepped down because he was "bored," now i've heard he was forced to hand over the job to someone else. what the hell is going on? i'm kinda confused right now.

i thought DFB is one the the national teams that has some concerns with D. well, well, what do you know, so does everyone else (i'm looking at you Brasil, Argentina.......). all and all, not a bad game.

It's sometimes called coach here as well, so it's quite unnessecary to apologise for anything. (there is a big range of titles, depending on the their responsibilites)

The story of Klinsmann: if I recall it right, many of the positive effects on the team were adressed on Klinsmann's co Joachim Löw.
And yes, he stepped down after the world cup 2006, stating he was burned out after two very intensive years and made way for Löw, but it's fair to say that he is to be recognized as a reformer for DFB structure and partly philosophy.

He tried as much later with the FC Bayern Munich and failed in the effort. (But I suspect it was mainly because the FC B and their team were more stubborn and inflexible in their will for change than the DFB was, especially with Ulli Hoeness as general manager back then)

Well, why have we let him pass? I don't know for sure, but as I mentioned: Many thought, that Löw was the real mastermind of the coaching team, so there was not that much to lose with Klinsmann stepping down.
But still, there was no great success with Löw, neither him or Klinsmann made the team reach the final of a world cup (Löw only reached the final of a european cup in 2008), let alone win a title...

Klinsmann did a lot for America's perception of Football (heard that some americans abandoned calling it "soccer", since nobody else does ;) ) and for the tactical acumen of the team. I won't begrudge your guys to get to the next round!

don't know if it's a fair comparison, i think it strikes some similarity with our local basketball team: the Los Angeles Lakers. we were so used to winning the NBA title in the past few years (pre 2010) anything short of a Larry O'Brien Trophy is a failure.

What Klinsmann & Löw did to the next generation of German football, in my humble opinion, are freaking incredible. From my past games, i knew the team were very good a probing the opponents, efficiently completed the passes, then use aerial superiority to send it home. you guys have a very sound system to execute, which produced a very consistent results in the World Cup matches. This and the last German World Cup Squad not only inherited the tradition of the past, but also developed something new as well, a knack to exploit opposing teams' weakness. and if the weakness isn't there, the team will use speed to create holes between the defense, or to use it to throw the opposing players out of position. if i remebered this correctly, you guys were five-times runner up, had it not for the tough breaks, there should be more than three stars on your trikot (is that now you spell it?) right now. i think some countries would love to have that kind of consistency on their national team.

oh, it a lazy way for us sports junkies to say "Defense."
you were so right about both the Portugal and Spanish teams, they weren't ready to play and it really showed. especially team Portugal, it feels like a "one trick pony" team. the sad thing is, that pony isn't very good at what he does when his national team needed him the most.

the Brasilian team's defense looks vulnerable at times, as it demonstrated in the game against Chile. they really rely on their man Neymar, as the Argentinian team to their Messi.

as for this year's German squad, they have more than one guy capable putting the hurts on the net. i think what seperates you guys from the rest of the packs, are the "set-up guys." when the German players are within the box, they patiently set up the ball for the next guy to attack, i rarely see any boneheaded shot that has no chance to graze the poll. once the opponent think they have safely blocked the first shot, boom, here comes the second, then the third. i don't think any goalie can block waves of shot, second chance shot kills

not sure if it's entirely related, i think this is where Klinsmann's youth movement and football philosophy start to take hold and blossom in this year's world cup. just my 2 cents.

i still worry about the team's defense in the back field.... schade....

congratulation, you guys are going to the big dance. LET'S BRING IT HOME! Ritter....

Hmmm, now that you mention it, there were many similarities between this years SuperBowl and the BRA GER match.
Absolutely onesided, even not sure if it was a real match or a showcase. (Still a bit sureal)

Yesterday's match of Brasil wasn't any better... they had no chance at all. And Netherlands went into idle mode after their second goal.

Argentina could be a bit harder. But without Di Maria, they lack some offensive genius. (And our Defense could concentrate almost on Messi alone)
